August is Leo season, and Leo rules the heart, so I thought a note on joy would be appt.
Finding joy amidst the chaos of life can be challenging. This year has been a tough one for many as the energies of the “9 year” bring cycles to an end and begin to stir deep inner transformation. When we experience challenges, in various forms it is not unusual to disconnect from our hearts. This can be a protective mechanism, energetically the body tries to protect us from feeling pain and creates an energetic shield around the heart which can serve us for a while but if left unchecked it can begin to hinder our ability to feel joy as blocking the pain also blocks the light.
Sometimes we think joy has to be exuberant and loud but often joy can be found in the simplest of things. A warm bath/shower, that first sip of coffee, feeling the sunshine on your face, the colours of the sunrise/sunset, the smell of fresh flowers, fresh rain too, the smile of the people you are engaging with, the laughter of children, the taste of your favourite meal, the touch of a loved one. Ordinary moments make our lives joyful.
If you are struggling to connect with yourself or others, perhaps feeling numb, that’s ok, start with your breath.
Just a few a minutes of breathing into your heart, even if you can’t feel anything, just breathe. Do this regularly and over time your heart will begin to thaw and you will start to feel once more.
A lot of the time we are afraid of the void, but sometimes we need to sit in it for a while, it might last a moment or longer but being able to be with whatever is going on within / around you will eventually bring acceptance, and this will bring you to peace. Before we come to peace we first need to find acceptance.
